The Sunday Baker

Aishwarya Lahiri

A true-blue Bengali, food comes naturally to Aishwarya. As does writing. Mix the two together, and out comes a food blog.

A media buyer, planner and strategist by profession and a Sunday baker and blogger by choice and passion, she is completely self and internet-taught in the skills of baking, having been inspired to bake by the memories of sticky cakes of childhood by her grandmother. Her blog, Aishwarya Eats, is a little above two years old, featuring restaurant reviews and chronicles of her Sunday baking.

Brownies, up-side down cakes, flans, muffins, one-minute desserts in a microwave and trying to master frosting and cookies are her current activities. She is also a trained classical dancer and loves attending blogger meets, reading food blogs, flipping through cookbooks, photography, short film-making and watching Master/Top Chef, Nigella, Eat Street and sitcoms with a spoon and a bottle of Nutella in hand.

She loves to bake for her friends and family, and also informally bakes to order. Her father, grandmother and mother (in that order) are her sous-chefs. Her office mates love the brownies, muffins and plum cake she makes. She is putting together her recipes and methods, and dreams of opening a dessert shop one day.

And no, she does not believe in the phrase “low-fat”.
