These are the ingredients that I had on hand to make my meal on Saturday evening.
They all came from a company called Abel & Cole who source and deliver organic foodstuffs from veg boxes to champagne. They don’t charge for delivery and you may choose whatever you want delivered, one day a week. I chose organic, free range, smoked bacon which had a lovely depth of flavour and it didn’t become watery in the pan. Some lovely mushrooms, two types, (not the pale white ones that Mr Tesco sells) deeply delicious and some Ewe’s cheese with garlic and herbs. I’m not a fan of cheese ordinarily, but sheep’s cheese is rather different from the normal cow’s milk cheese and not as aggressive as some goat’s cheese. I began by melting some of the (very small amount) of fat from the bacon whilst slicing the mushrooms. These were then cooked in the fat with a little added butter until perfectly done. The bacon was cut into bite size pieces and added to the pan, they took seconds to finish, then some of the cheese was added to the pan along with some of the cooking water from my pasta to melt into a very pleasing sauce. I can recommend Abel and Cole, the produce was marvellous and I enjoyed my dinner. Toni-anne. |
