Jeera Aloo is a typical North Indian dish, probably made in thousands of homes every day. Easy to make and quick too, it goes equally well with rotis or parathas. Boil and dice some potatoes. Heat oil, add jeera (cumin seed), put in the potatoes, add salt, red chilli powder, turmeric (haldi), dhania (coriander) powder and aamchur (dried mango powder). Toss and cook covered for a while. Garnish with fresh coriander and serve. |

AAAaaaa…..,

Sir!
One question, can u pls, write the steps in detail if possible? Coz a newbie to cookin, like me, nothin HIT me!
I donno, how to boil aloos, i.e. aloos should be just covered with water or drowned in water. And in Cooker with or w/o whistle?
And how long to cook? Is it upto individual, i mean, are these, Jeera Aloo to be cooked till they are soft or till they are a little crispy brown.
I know, silly questions, but I gotta learn.
Hello Jas,
I understand your situation. I used to provide exact measurements and methods earlier – but since what I want to do is create, cook and write – about the food and not really the recipe, i stopped including measurements and methods.
However, I would be very happy to help out in any way I can over skype. Do you have a skype ID? Mine is siddhartha.khullar. Let me know when you would like to connect and we can talk food!
BTW: I’m a bit conservative when it comes to cooking and hardly use pressure cookers, microwaves and other such devices. There is more than one way to boil a potato. For this recipe, submerge the potatoes in water. They are done when you stick a knife in them, raise the knife and the potato slips off the knife on its own. Lightly salting the water is recommended. When done, let cool, peel and dice [cut into cubes].

Oh my GOD………..!!!
The list of Sid Khullar, goes on n on n on n on…… whenever i Google it. How do you handle soooooo…… many Blogssszzzzzzz…..
Does it have somethin to what I think, RSS?
BTW, what you can do is, create a dictionary kinda thinggy for such detail instructions. Like, for aloo jeera, there is one way that you have used to boil aloos.
But, you know there are more than 1 way for doing it. So, u can make a one word(keyword) for each of the different methods and reader can click that word, in your new creation article and goto its definition or wot method u mean.
Got it?
No!
K! Coz me neither….
Forget it!
PHEW!!!
Do let me know, if i can help at this….. jst incase…
Oh! my god i need an asprin!
Hello Jas,
I have only two blogs – one on food [this one] and one for my rants and raves… well rants mostly [http://www.sidkhullar.com/blog/]. I doubt it is RSS – probably links to the food blog – which is good.
You know… you’re right. Perhaps I can create a section on cooking basics, which includes different methods for boiling potatoes and other such topics. Good idea Jas! Thank you.
