Mumbai’s sublime district Colaba, has opened its doors to a new European Gourmet restaurant branded as ‘The Pier’. This comfort gourmet diner offers food connoisseurs and enthusiasts a location to savour delectable European Cuisine like never before in the city. The restaurant being in close proximity to the sea and the yachts explains the reason for the name ‘The Pier’.
Owner Samir Chhabria, synonymous with some of the most prestigious establishments in the city viz. famous nightlife spot Prive and Mumbai’s well known Japanese lounge Tetsuma, has combined his understanding of the hospitality industry with the skilled expertise of the talented Corporate Chef Ratish Dabre to conceptualize ‘The Pier’.
Speaking on his inspiration which led to this venture, Samir Chhabria says, “My family has been running ‘Assiette Hospitality’, a hospitality business which caters to hospitals and banks, however with the rapid growth in the restaurant business I was inspired to be a part of this current roaring phase.”He also promises an exceptional dining experience to his guests.
Eminent interior designer Daraius Bamboat has put together this unique and aesthetical design envisioning an actual pier which he describes as the main inspiration behind the fresh blue and brown colour combination. The 3000 sq. ft. restaurant seats 70 guests which includes a Private Dining Area that is structured to offer the perfect amount of privacy without cutting you out from the ambiance outside.
Upon entering, one is welcomed by a tall wooden door which leads you to a vibrant yet soothing setting of blue tapestry and brown wooden interiors that brings to mind an oceanic look while the dash of gold on the wall brings about an elegant feeling. The 45 foot long bar takes up one entire side of the restaurant and has its base covered in frosted glass with LED lighting, and its top fabricated with Corian, serving the finest beverages.
The grey ceiling, stone flooring and mood lighting brings out the dynamic colour scheme and nautical decor. The seating is a balanced mixture of sofas that offer a casual and relaxed setting for a leisurely meal as well as tables and chairs offering a more formal setting for those choosing to have a quick bite.
The Corporate Chef Ratish Dabre brings with him 9 years of experience and remarkable culinary skills ensuring that your meal is nothing less than perfect. He has put together an exemplary array of dishes ranging from smooth and creamy Lobster Bisque served with cold lobster salad to Pan Seared Atlantic Scallops with Thai curry infused squash puree where the mild sweetness of the scallops serve as a great contrast
to the flavourful Thai curry, thus creating a perfect palatable blend. Also on the menu is a list of interesting dishes like Duck Leg Confit served with mash and bacon bits, Braised Pork Belly with Apple Cinnamon Jus that melts in your mouth, Barbeque Country Hen with Red Wine Jus served with grilled peppers, potato and turnips ensuring an unmatched dining experience. The bread basket that is offered with every meal includes a list of in house freshly baked Onion and Basil Focaccia, Sesame Seed Bread Sticks, Cranberry Brioche & Hard Rolls served with Garlic Butter.
To add a finishing touch to your meal, the menu offers an assortment of flavoursome desserts like Crème Brule, Vanilla Panna Cotta, Cappuccino Soufflé and a list of homemade ice creams to soothe your palate.
The Beverage Selection includes over 50 wines and an extensive list of single malts, whiskies, vodkas, cocktails and more that have been carefully selected to complement the cuisine and enhance your mood. The Pier’s menu comprises of a list of specially created cocktails labelled ‘The Pier Mixology’ that are exotic, refreshing and rich in flavour. The signature cocktails are an eclectic combination of premium spirits and ingredients such as Chai Tini, Cucumber Some, Watermelon & Kafir Lime, Pier Berries and more fruity goodness prepared by their flaring bartenders. The Pier has also concocted its own in house caramel, coffee and orange liqueurs that are sure to delight the guests thoroughly.
