Wine Fest @ The Taj Mahal Hotel - Viva El Vino
Wine continues to be a most delightful influence on my life, revealing one little secret after another, ensuring I don’t stray very far from the path of the faithful. From being utterly unmoved by a bottle on the table, to becoming excited by the mention of the subject, it’s been a great journey since the epiphany at the Lalit. I was therefore delighted on learning of the Wine Fest 2012 at the Taj Mahal Hotel.
This was quite a good deal really, with rows of food stalls placed around green lawns, shady trees and clumps of seating scattered all over accompanied by a collection of wines from Argentina, Chile, South Africa, Australia and New Zealand. Marketa Sitarova, the sommelier, took the time to speak to individual guests and explain the concept and also offered suggestions for food pairing.
I was able to go through 8 individual wines and had a great time pairing each one with the abundance of food available. A grill station offered grilled pork sausages, beef steaks, chicken, lamb chops and prawns while others offered skewered morsels of chicken tikka, grilled vegetables, grilled polenta (very good!) and grilled tofu among other delicacies like raclette.
Check out the photos below and do visit Viva El Vino next year at the Taj Mahal Hotel.
