Dana Choga Kebabri is a 12 year old family-run restaurant specializing in Kebabs. Among the hordes of North Indian outlets in Gurgaon, we found it to be a good value for money proposition.
The small 22-seater restaurant had nothing special about its ambience but it was comfortable for an informal family meal with effective air-conditioning and soothing pastel colours on its walls. This small chain is a welcome breather in Gurgaon which either has expensive fine-dining restaurants, food courts or road side Aahatas. We loved the Mutton Kathi Rolls (Rs100) and Murg Garlic Tikkas (Rs210); each bite succulent, juicy and flavourful. The Kathi Rolls were tastier and lighter than the place of its origin, Kolkata. The Dal Makhani (Rs125) and Tandoori Stuffed Potatoes (Rs125) were well made too though I missed bite in the Gosht Burrah Kebab (Rs210). The Murg Makhmali Tikka (Rs210), Murg Kebab Masala (Rs215) and Paneer Adrak Hara Dhaniya (Rs140) were nice but not outstanding. There weren’t many dessert options though we enjoyed the Kulfi (Rs50). The fragrant paan sans the katha and gulkand was served complimentary and was a good mouth freshener post the garlic spiced food.
The good sized portions with pocket-friendly prices make it a preferred dine-in and home delivery option for the people of Gurgaon. I am surely going back for those lovely Kathi Rolls.
