Chilies @ Roadhouse - Dynamite Eats!
At times, one fervently wishes one were anything but a food writer. One of those times was last week, when Charis, Ruchira and I were at a preview of a special ‘hot’ menu at Roadhouse Bar & Grill at the Doubletree by Hilton, Mayur Vihar. Closely followed by a chili eating contest, due to happen on the 8th of February, the chili festival, aptly named Dare the Chilies, starts today, the 1st of Feb.
Supported by glasses of cold, raw milk and other soothing beverages, including the evergreen brew, beer, the three of us braved an entire menu that wasn’t hotter than Hades, but close enough to make us hyper-ventilate and wallow in self-pity. The menu was abundant in finesse (pan fried brinjal), earthy coarseness (onion and green chili fritters), cheesiness (stuffed chilies), meatiness (chicken tenders) and every other attribute one looks for in American-pub food, with the addition of one extra element – chili heat in varying degrees depending on which chili was added to the dish – Anaheims, Chipotles, Bhoot Jholokias and Habaneros among others.
