Seafood Festival @ Geoffreys, Select City Walk, Saket, New Delhi

ThumbsUp Kamal and I visited Geoffrey’s a little while ago for their Seafood Fiesta. I’ve always felt Geoffrey’s had a great deal of potential, if only they’d go the extra mile. Management and ownership now appears to have changed, so perhaps the much desired supererogation may happen shortly. Hasn’t yet.

lobster-thermidor The Seafood Fiesta appears to comprise a quick collection of seven or eight dishes, that if nothing else, were very competitively priced. I can’t imagine a Lobster Thermidor anywhere else at 750++. I started with a Baked Broccoli and Pine nut soup (165), went on to a Chicken and Bacon Cobb Salad (275) and finished with a Pan Grilled Red Snapper (545) from the Seafood Fiesta Menu, while Kamal chose to go with a Lobster Thermidor (750).

To begin with Geoffrey’s could think of the basics; fresh bread and soft butter, neither of which were present at my table. A little later, they could perhaps employ waiting staff who not only look as if they understand you, but actually do so. Finally, a re-writing of the menu could be considered, where the menu becomes a guide to what you’ll receive, not what you wanted. For example, my Baked Broccoli and Pine nut Soup, which tasted quite nice, didn’t have any of the roasted garlic or parmesan sprinkled over it as mentioned in the menu. Similarly, the Cobb Salad was deprived of the blue cheese as promised in the menu.

The soup and the salad however, were quite delicious, the only mismatch coming from an ambitiously written menu… an affliction that has many city restaurants in it’s grip. My main course was accompanied by a glass of house white, a Grover’s I was told… and it went beautifully with the very well prepared red snapper, a combination you must try when you’re at Geoffrey’s next. Kamal enjoyed his Lobster Thermidor, but did think it could have been a little lighter, bogged down as it was with dollops of creamy sauce.

Do check out the Seafood Fiesta at Geoffrey’s; they’ve priced it very competitively and the food tastes good too!
