Rockman’s Beer Island is a huge facility in Ambiance Mall, Gurgaon that claims to serve authentic German/Bavarian food with freshly brewed beer to go with it. Divided into three areas of which two serve food and drink on order, they’ve clearly spent a great deal of time and resources on the place.
We tried their Wheat (weiss) and Dark beer along with a platter of Weiners, Nuremberg sausages and Lamb Roulade to go with them. The beer was nice, but not quite there. The intensity of the flavor could have been better, seemed a little flat, and was closer to bottled beer than the good stuff brewed in house. Similarly, the food tasted good, but had a little distance to go. For instance the lamb roulade was overdone and the pretzels weren’t right. Similarly the sausages left something to be desired in terms of authenticity, though the accompaniments and the platter as just a meal were nice. If Rockman’s Beer Island aims to serve authentic German food, it has a little way to go. The food at Rockman’s Beer Island is also quite expensive.
Ed: I received a mailed feedback for the Suburb article, from Sandeep Pundir who as per JustDial.com is the F&B Manager at Rockman’s Beer Island. He essentially tries hard to convey that Rockman’s Beer Island is better than it’s competitors because it (a) is 1.5 years old (b) is the only one serving German food and (c) has imported it’s equipment from Germany. He also implies I’m clueless, but then I don’t claim to be an expert to begin with, so that’s perfectly fine.
I fail to understand how a restaurant becomes superior due to age, by attempting to serve a cuisine or by importing equipment. Do you?
Visit Rockman’s Beer Island if you’re not very particular about your brew or your food and want a nice place to hang out with friends and make merry.

I was at Rockman’s Beer Island on 13th July & was shock to see that few customers were beaten up my Rockman’s staff & bouncers, first inside the restaurant & then were taken out. Later it was learnt that these customer had ordered for a food item which wasn’t served, on being questioned many a times the Manager got furious & called in bouncers.
However the restaurant manager named Shobhit Kumar was arrested by Gurgaon Police later but it shows a very poor staff quality & mistreatment of customer at Rockman’s Beer Island.

Rockmans is a downer, very high prices of drinks, bad behavior of staff & bouncers they feel they are the boss.
bouncers keep glaring at girls if u take them with u, doesnot feel nice
Sad service, uneccesarily overpriced. ripoff
Dont bother. Overhyped. Super sad service. Before we could finish a drink, the waiter would be breathing down our necks,,repeat? repeat? And, the menu, doesnt list the prices of the drinks in terms of size. Doesnt say its 30ml or 60ml, only the first selection of aperitifs is mentioned as 60ml, so one assumes that a whiskey priced at 550 must be for 60ml, since nothing else is mentioned, later, when the bills comes, they billed it as 6 drinks of rs 550, instead of 3 of 60ml, on checking they said, sorry, those prices were for 30ml not 60ml. Thugs. I asked him for a glass of water…and he takes the used ones..from the table to fill them up again. wow. In a place in gurgaon, where drinks are for 1200plus a large peg, they cant even afford to serve you water in fresh glasses…and when they serve you snacks, after every new meal, they keep back your soiled forks and knives, so you can reuse them in the next pricey snack. Anywhere else for this price, they would treat you with a lot of respect. I billed 10k for 2, and promised never to go there ever again. avoidable at best…only music was good.
