Cake 2 It’s happening again! Dessert parlours seem to be making a comeback and The Sweet Tooth Company is the latest entrant. Well located in the PVR Anupam Complex, Saket, The Sweet Tooth Company is a venture of two young entrepreneurs, Saurabh and Sarvdeep. Coming from marketing and sales backgrounds, Saurabh and Sarvdeep are the founders of The Sweet Tooth Company and quite the gracious hosts. I doubt there’ll be many grumpy customers with their welcoming presence. Deepinder (Foodiebay.com), Cherie (my daughter) and I visited the duo’s maiden venture to check out all they had to offer.

Talking of customers, being rude seems to be in fashion these days, with a good squeeze of bad attitude. While I was in dessert heaven, in walks this lady with a supercilious smile on her face, and asks for the menu. When asked if she was looking for something specific, she says, “Oh, I just want to see if I’ll ever come back in here”. I had a brief dialogue with her which ended with my offering her a business card. She takes one look at the card, which had a picture of a shrimp and rocket salad on it, and says with an I’m-so-witty smile, “It looks like something died in there”. Of course something died you silly goose, did you expect to find live prawns in a salad? “Anyway, I don’t read blogs”, she said, as if she were making a profound statement and asked for a certain ice cream. On learning that it had been sold out, instead of taking it as a sign that the venture was doing well, she says “Okay, I’m not coming back here”, and waddled out. I’m fairly sure she won’t be missed.

While The Sweet Tooth company has a good overall location, it may be a little tough to find, as it’s nestled inside a complex of shops with a hairdresser and a tattoo artist for neighbours. Don’t let that worry you however – you’ll hear neither snips nor screams when you’re inside. In any case, once you’ve sampled Saurabh and Sarvdeep’s wares, you won’t care even if you do. The secret to their delectable desserts is their pâtissier, Ashok Sharma, who comes with all of 30 years experience in baking, desserts and confectionary in addition to Italian food! Now that you’re assured of the quality of stuff here, shall we get to the meat of the matter? Perhaps that wasn’t the right phrase.

  1. Chile Icecream sounds divine…I love sweet and hot!

  2. By the way the “….something died in there” line has been wrongly used by the lady in question. One uses the phrase to bring an obnoxious odor to notice.

  3. Oh she was probably having a bad day or something and well said vinnykhullar

  4. @Indian Takeaway: Dunno, she seemed to be quite smug about it. :) Then again, perhaps.
